COURTNEY BIRCK

Courtney came to Jackson Spalding Dallas after three years with Spaeth Communications, a firm specializing in issues management. Her crisis experience runs the gamut from disease outbreaks to employee layoffs, making her a go-to girl when bad news breaks.

A quick-study in all things technical, she is adept at video filming and editing, which she incorporates into her media training with clients. Courtney also is well-versed with social media techniques and advises clients who are looking to get a foothold in this new frontier.

She is a graduate of Southern Methodist University, where she earned a bachelor of arts in Corporate Communications and Public Affairs. She also studied at Regents College in London during the summer of 2005 when the city experienced terrorist attacks on its transit system. Courtney’s first-hand account of her near-miss with tragedy was picked up by her student newspaper and yearbook. Fortunately, her train was merely delayed by the bombs, but her close brush with the emergency helped shape her interest in crisis work.

Courtney was born in Connecticut, but switched coasts early in life to become a California girl. She grew up in Laguna Niguel, where the weather made it easy for her to embrace running and hiking.

Today she lives in Uptown Dallas, where she is active with her sorority alumni group and Slipper Club, which both raise funds for local charities. She loves to experiment in the kitchen and says if dreams could be granted with the wave of a spatula she would attend culinary school in Paris and open up a café.
