BRYAN LONG
Bryan Long joined Jackson Spalding after a career as a reporter and editor with CNN.com, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Atlanta Business Chronicle and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. His work at Jackson Spalding spans from crisis management to street marketing strategies.
Prior to joining our firm, he specialized in covering commercial real estate. In 2003, he launched a successful Web site to cover Atlanta's ever-expanding real estate development industry. His contributions to the community through the daily real estate report led to the honor of addressing the Atlanta Press Club as a featured speaker in January 2005. His knowledge of growth and development has resulted in great ink for our clients in the Los Angeles Times’ L.A. Land column, the New York Times’ Freakonomics column and BusinessWeek’s Hot Property column, among others.
He is also well versed on social marketing, which took him to the Democratic National Convention in Denver and the Republican National Convention in St. Paul for a national technology product launch in 2008.
Bryan’s two plus years at CNN.com honed his ability to work under pressure as he served as Writer/Editor for CNN.com's breaking news team, where he covered such wide-ranging topics as the war in Iraq and its aftermath; the rebuilding of New York's post-September 11 skyline; the safety of biotech labs after the nation's anthrax scares; and the 2004 Presidential race and election. He was co-writer and co-editor for CNN.com’s first blog, a political and celebrity-filled report from the halls of Boston’s Fleet Center at the 2004 Democratic National Convention.
In October 2009, Bryan spent a week studying clean water projects in Haiti for Pure Water for the World and Midtown Atlanta Rotary Club, where he is a member and serves on the board. He also is a member of the Board of Directors for AID Atlanta, an organization that fights against the AIDS epidemic in Atlanta.
A native of Troy, Alabama, Bryan graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alabama upon completion of a double-major curriculum in Journalism and American Studies. His post-graduate education includes a six-month immersion in Leadership Skills Training for News Managers at the prestigious Poynter Institute in St. Petersburg, Florida. When he’s not on the hunt for great stories, Bryan enjoys living in Midtown. He walks to work and encourages friends to discover life away from the gas pump.
