Established in 2008, Creative Mornings is an awesome monthly breakfast lecture series that now occurs in over 200 cities globally. What’s so great about the series is it’s an opportunity for the creative community to get out of the office, caffeinated and inspired in-person by an expert thriving in the creative world.
The theme of the month was “Symmetry,” and the organizers of the Atlanta chapter reached out to designer Brian Steely to see if he would be up for sharing his story, which he obliged.
Steely treated the 500+ people who attended the sold-out event to a presentation founded on balance and symmetry, not only in design but also in life. He shared his beginnings as an artist and growing up here in Atlanta, a hilarious story involving the Portfolio Center admissions office and his first Widespread Panic poster – and starting as an intern at Jackson Spalding some 20 years ago.
He went on to give insights about defining his minimalist, textured monoline design-style, and how that steady work and focus led to clients from bands, to beers, to bicycle businesses across the country and beyond. This momentum paved the way for the development of Steely Works, where he designs award-winning logos, branding collateral and other visual communications for clients like Nike, Salesforce and Great Big Story.
In classic JS form there were a team of us there to root him on from the front row, leaving inspired and energized about the work we perform for our clients. Major congrats to Brian for being such a powerhouse at our company and for delivering an impactful presentation to the Atlanta Creative Mornings community.
