Abbie supports the Orkin Commercial and Orkin Canada teams with copywriting and media relations and contributes to social media work for SCANA Energy, too.  She originally interned in our Athens office, but moved to Atlanta in 2019.

Working on B2B accounts is a natural for Abbie, who began her college journey as a food science and microbiology major. After a tussle with chemistry, she turned around and found herself studying public relations, a great fit for her curiosity and engaging personality.

Abbie not only grew up in Gainesville, Fla., but she also graduated from The University of Florida there. During college she worked as a Research Assistant in a division of Shands Hospital, volunteered as the “face” of Student Activities and Involvement, and co-founded the Collegiate Plant Initiative, which promoted horticulture careers to students. As the public relations lead for this non-profit, she gained valuable experience that led to her first internship with Ball Horticulture Company, a world leader in plant development and distribution.

After a semester in Valencia, Spain, Abbie says she’s about 80 percent fluent in Spanish and she hopes to continue strengthening her bi-lingual skills.

To recharge her batteries, Abbie spends her spare time hiking, exercising at Orangetheory Fitness and teaching the occasional swim lesson. She’s looking forward to reconnecting with Atlanta Gator alums to take a bite out of our burgeoning restaurant scene.
