Chelsea is a media relations maven who brings to JS a seasoned background in consumer and retail PR. She joined the Jackson Spalding’s Dallas office in 2018 and largely serves the Mattress Firm account, bolstering the company’s branding efforts and promoting executive thought-leadership.
Chelsea came to our agency after five years with the global communications firm Ketchum, where she discovered her passion for retail PR through her work on their 7-Eleven account. After landing her first major client hit and experiencing the adrenaline jolt that accompanied it, Chelsea’s desire to earn story placements became addictive.
A passionate observer of the ever-changing media landscape, Chelsea appreciates the multitudinous ways of consuming information, and enjoys helping people discover new and cool things. “From movies to music to Instagram—they each have such an impact on society, affecting how we think, act and shop,” she says. (On the subject of film, her favorites run the gamut from rom-coms to Marvel capers, and include My Best Friend’s Wedding and Remember the Titans.)
A military brat with roots in Dayton, Ohio, Chelsea lived in Guam during middle school, where she became a certified scuba-diver. At the University of Kentucky, she cheered wildly for the basketball team (obviously) and gravitated toward writing. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in integrated strategic communications, she headed to the Big D to start her PR career.
The self-described go-getter enjoys Dallas’s cultural scene, and often can be spotted enjoying everything the city has to offer including restaurant hopping, sports games and other events. In the future, Chelsea hopes to do even more travelling, adding destinations to a list that already includes Europe, Asia and Australia. One target is Alaska, with aspirations of participating in a dogsled race—no surprise, given Chelsea’s high energy in challenging situations.
